
Christmas! A season of play?
I have to be honest here... I hate Christmas. It's not because I'm an atheist, I assure you. That's irrelevant. And it's not because I don't get gifts; dad's don't get gifts. Or not what they want, anyway. That's okay. Honestly, I don't need stuff. I don't want stuff. I like stuff. I like experience. But Christmas is stuff. And not just any stuff, but consumer stuff. And consumer stuff requires money, the money to drive capital. Most of my life I've lived in or near poverty.


Karaoke Play!
Karaoke is a particular pleasure of mine. I must confess that my love for karaoke is in no small part because of long ago dreams of being a rock star. I was in a band in high school with some awesome Metallica worshipping metal heads and nothing was more fun than screaming my guts out into a mic while my buddies played along with me. Why do I do what I do?
I study videogames. But why? Sometimes I like to say I do it so I can get paid to play videogames. An old childhood dream come to life. Sometimes I say it's because it's a young field with wide open opportunities. Sometimes I say it's a new field that's much misunderstood. Most of the time, I think back to my AA degree at Northwest College.
